Children are more than twice as likely as adults to live in extreme poverty.

Globally, almost 385 million children are living in extreme poverty. According to the World Bank Group, the effects of poverty are most damaging to children because the deprivations they suffer affect the development of their bodies and their minds.* By working with social enterprises that provide stable employment for mothers and resources for children, such as food, housing, medical care and education, The Little Market is able to help lessen the effects of poverty for children around the globe.

artisan: Olive & Annie

Olive & Annie empowers Maasai artisans in Kenya as they work toward financial independence. Through the group, these women have access to essential resources including educational opportunities, community development workshops, and health programs. A portion of the proceeds fund ZLT Hope 德扑手机下载游戏homes, which provides support to children who have been orphaned and abandoned, mentorship to vulnerable youth and single mothers, and assistance to children and families affected by childhood sexual abuse.

Razafindrabe Collections is a social enterprise in Madagascar. The majority of the artisan women have multiple children and have not had access to a formal education. Prior to crafting baskets and bags with Razafindrabe Collections, most of the artisans lived well below the poverty line and earned less than a dollar per day. They now have access to a sustainable source of income and skill development opportunities. WomenCraft consists of 24 artisans groups, which include women who were refugees, survivors of genocide, artisans living with HIV, and Tanzanian hosts.
